Disclosure: I received a product in exchange for this post. However, all opinions stated here are my own.
Technology is pretty amazing now-a-days. The toys that are out there for our kids right now are pretty awesome. With STEM becoming more popular with kids/schools, its products like Wonder Workshop Dash, a smart robot, that help our kids become tech savvy. Appealing to younger and older, Dash makes learning fun. Kids don’t even realize that they are learning fundamental coding! Our kids are going to be genius’! Ok, we hope right? Having products like Dash and Dot, kids can certainly start learning the basics of coding. How it works, how things react, and what happens when you add different elements.
Dash & Dot are capable robots that can sense their environment and can be programmed wirelessly using a touch device. Dash & Dot are designed to be fun at your home and in a child’s play room. The combination of sensors on these robots, the child friendly programming tools on touch devices, and the design of the robots makes it fun and easy for kids (and grown ups!) to do several activities with robots that would have seemed impossible until now.
Setup is pretty easy and the apps walk you through what you need to do. I was able to setup Dash in a matter of minutes. Dash is super cute, I know how can a robot be so cute?! The cute little phrases he says sound so cute. The colors changing feature is pretty cool. My son was very excited to play with Dash. He is 6 years old so in the beginning stages of exploring and creating.
I downloaded all the different apps (except the xlyphone one as I don’t have that accessory). My son loved that he can play with his LEGO’s with Dash. He attached different toys to him. I have to admit I really enjoyed playing with Dash. It was fun to create different paths, sounds, and commands for him to follow. The apps walk you through everything and make it easy to navigate. We named our Dash, “Mr Awesom” and he has quickly become part of the family. My son is always coming up with new ways to use Dash.
Dash and Dot have a variety of accessories that can be used. They include a xylophone, building brick connectors (compatible with LEGO bricks), a pusher bar, a smartphone mount to take videos, bunny ears, and a tow hook.
Bottom line – my kids loved it. It really is a cool gadget. The kids enjoyed all the silly phrases Mr Awesom said. He also has the capabilities of replaying what you say. You record it on the app then you can add the functionality for him to repeat it! The kids had a kick out of that! They loved changing the different colors on Dash. You can control it straight from the app.
What is your favorite feature?
