Do you remember as a little girl or boy pretending that all cardboard boxes were houses, forts, or castles? I know as a little girl I loved to pretend I was a princess and used any cardboard box as a castle where my prince would one day find me. My parents would hear me in my room talking to myself about magic carpets, fairy godmothers, or singling a song from The Little Mermaid (my favorite Disney movie). Fortunately, now my kids don’t have to pretend to have a cardboard house. Cascades, a company in Canada has created a cardboard children’s playhouse made from 100% recycled cardboard.
The customizable playhouse features two doors, windows, and even a skylight. Children can spend hours coloring, painting, or just pretending to be in Snow White’s cottage in the woods or the big bad wolf from the story of the Three Little Pigs (like my son did!). The playhouse does have outlined detailing drawn on it but it still has an area where they can draw anything they like. This momma was happy to get a little break while my kids worked up their imagination and creativity.
The cardboard playhouse is a great size (Dimensions: 35″ x 32″ x 55″) for young children. Both of my kids were able to fit inside with a little space to move around. Though the house is a great size for young kids it is still small enough to fit in smaller homes or apartments. It doesn’t take up much space and can easily be transported to different location. The cardboard house has held up well against my rambunctious five year and my one year old daughter, who also can be rough sometimes. I think it makes a great gift for the holidays especially for those that have children who love to pretend play. Cascades cardboard playhouses can be found on their website’s boutique and the good news is that it is currently on sale for $25 (originally $38).
One of the great things about Cascades is that it donates $2 to Habitat for Humanity for every cardboard house that is sold in Canada or the United States! I love companies that give back and help others.
Cascades was nice enough to provide a giveaway for one of my readers! Enter below using the Rafflecopter form (if you have any difficulties entering please let me know!). Good luck everyone!
